AGARTALA, Nov 26 (TIWN): CPI-M National General Secretary Yechury on Monday after party's 22nd State Conference ended, addressing media said that media has lost its independence in BJP era and there is freedom of press exists in reality. "If you don't publish news in their favour then advertisements will be stopped. But this is not the way of democracy, neither it's called media's independence". "Across the nation, allegations are there that before election media is playing huge intrigue against anti-BJP parties. We don't have complaint against the journalists but those owners of newspapers / channels who sold themselves to party. Pressures are everywhere. Somewhere there is pressure and somewhere direct exchange of money. There are huge harassment, threat upon media"."Since the independence no part has wasted 5000 crores only for advertisement and show off like BJP", Yechury told media here. Sitaram has called for media’s independence when Tripura's media's freedom has been paralyzed by Chief Minister Biplab Deb and his gang.

On yesterday a daily worker was arrested after he shared a news item and such incident never happened in Tripura's whole history.

(On Sunday Dipak Debnath was arrested after he shared a news item from Tripurainfowya.com and across media, this incident was condemned).

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has announced an open war against media world, suppressed voice of almost all media.

Biplab Deb and his OSD Sanjay Mishra directly calls media chiefs and editors if any news doesn’t like and dictates how to make news.Recently Chief Minister Biplab Deb also suggested journalist on ‘National Press Day’ to write positive news like Dubai journalists.

Biplab often sits with media persons, orders all editors to join meeting. In many newspaper offices Biplab Deb has directly said if any news which may damage his popularity immediately that newspaper will be banned.

"Daily Desher Katha" which is a local newspaper of 40 years old, it was closed by BJP Govt and the main role was played by District Magistrate who during hearing called RNI office and cancelled the registration, but when the newspaper appealed in the High Court, Court clearly mentioned that in no case / no issue publication can be stopped.

Tripurainfoway.com is under various threats, journalists, photographers of even other media are also under police harassment as police under Rajiv Singh working 24X7 to destroy TIWN. Now, only time to prove whether honest-power of media is more powerful or evil power of JUMLA-Govt.
