IGDC concludes vocational training: 219 successful trainees to receive award

AGARTALA, September 28 (TIWN): Indo-German Development Cooperative (IGDC) Project of Tripura would organize tools, equipment distribution and award giving ceremony among the successful vocational training candidates at Kulai community hall on September, 30.

In a press release, IGDC informed it has been providing vocational trainings (VTs) to selected motivated and entrepreneurial individuals since Financial Year (FY) 2012-13. To start the training, altogether 15 types of trades were introduced in phase 1. In a span of 1.5 year, IGDC has trained over 2372 beneficiaries under 15 trades- Tailoring (314), Handloom (300), Motor Driving (175), Basic Computer (302), Mobile Repairing (38), Dalmut/Chanacur (134), Two wheeler (65), Solar equipment, repairing (38), candle making (275), Carpentry (135), Masonry (111), TV/Radio repairing (43), Handicraft (135), Artificial flower making (174) and Ornament making (133).

During the training period, trainees were constantly evaluated on parameters like attendance, attentiveness, eagerness for learning, capacity to grasp and final knowledge on the subjects taught. Through this process, trainees were graded under categories- Outstanding (‘O’), Very Good (‘A’) and good (‘B’).

Altogether 259 trainees graded under ‘Outstanding’ and ‘very good’ have been selected for award. They would receive tools and equipments to start their own business at Kulai community hall under Dhalai district on September 30.

According to a press release issued by IGDC, to improve the natural resource conditions, supporting enhanced livelihood of the forest department communities this project was initiated in the way back 2009. The project as part of the Indo-German Bilateral Cooperation is being jointly funded and implemented by German Development Bank and Govt. of Tripura.

The project was initially incepted for six-years (Feb 2009- Dec 2014), which is running into its 6th year. This project has been extended for two more years, until December 2016. The project is being implemented in 70 villages spread across 11 development blocks under Dhalai and North Tripura districts with a focus on socio-economic development of tribal shifting cultivators, rural poor and conservation of natural resources in the state.

In the award giving ceremony, Tripura Forests Minister- Naresh Jamatia would grace the dais as Chief Guest while the programme will be presided over by the Zilla Sabhadhipati, Dhalai district- Sailesh Acharjee. The Principal Secretary of Forests and Agriculture Departments- Dr. VK Bahuguna and the District Magistrate (DM) & Collector, Dhalai district- Dr. Milind Ramteke would attend the ceremony as special guests. Besides, the BAC Chairman from different blocks will remain present as guests of honour.
