Congress pays tributes to India's first Prime Minister on his 129th birth anniversary

AGARTALA, Nov 14 (TIWN): Tripura Congress along with whole nation on Wednesday paid tributes to India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 129th birth anniversary.

Congress President Birjit Sinha, Gopal Roy along with other senior Congress leaders remained present on that occasion. 

Nehru was born to Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and his birthday is celebrated as Children's Day. He remained in office until his death in 1964. 

Former president Pranab Mukherjee, former vice president Hamid Ansari, former prime minister Manmohon Singh and Gandhi paid their respects to Nehru at Shantivan. 

The birth day of Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known as “Children Day” was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Umakanata mini stadium on Tuesday under Tripura Govt. Education Minister Ratan lal Nath has shared moments with children.

Education Minister Ratan lal Nath along with high Govt officials remained present on the occasion and paid floral tribute to Nehru.

The program was organised by school education department to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Jawharlal Nehru who is famously known as "Chacha Nehru" for children. 

Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi’s father, was a leader of India’s nationalist movement and became India’s first prime minister after its independence. Jawaharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad, India. In 1919, he joined the Indian National Congress and joined Indian Nationalist leader Mahatma Gandhi’s independence movement. In 1947, Pakistan was created as a new, independent country for Muslims. The British withdrew and Nehru became independent India’s first prime minister. He died on May 27, 1964, in New Delhi, India.
