Bangladesh Railway Minister arrives on a two-day visit

AGARTALA, September 25 (TIWN): To mark the golden jubilee programme of Ishwar Pathshala, a primary school at College tilla area of Agartala, Bangladesh Railway Minister Mohammad Mazibul Hoque arrives at Akahura Check Post here this afternoon on a two-day visit.

Interacting with media persons at international check post Mr. Mohammad Mazibul Hoque said that the main purpose of this visit is to celebrate the golden jubilee programme of Ishwar Pathshala as well as to maintain a good relation between the two neighboring countries. Minister  further said that the culture and language of Bangladesh and Tripura is similar after all we are Bengali. We cannot forget the contribution made by the Indians and also the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her outstanding contribution to the country's 1971 'Liberation War', he added.

Bangladesh government has taken a lot of immediate initiatives to complete the India-Bangladesh railway link as soon as possible and India will build a 15km railway tracks linking Tripura's capital Agartala with Bangladesh's southeastern city of Akhaurah, an important railway junction connected to Chittagong port, resource-rich Sylhet and Dhaka, he said.

This will indeed boost the trade between the two countries, presently Tripura's handicraft mainly bamboo products are increasingly being exported to third countries through Mumbai and Kolkata ports after the competition of the rail link between the two countries the traders of Tripura will get direct benefit , he hoped.

It is to be mentioned here that the Ishwar Pathshala traces back its origin to the original Ishwar Pathshala of Kumilla district of Bangladesh. Renowned social activist and educationist Mahesh Chandra Bhattacharya established the original Ishwar Pathshala in Kumilla town back in 1923.
