AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): One day after Laxmi Puja, a devastated morning began for a dozens of businessmen in the Capital City Agartala. City's prominent market on National Highway in Battala left burnt with at least 11 shops were totally burnt, caused above crore of losses. Cash, commodities nothing could be saved in this deadly fire. Talking to the devastated businessmen they demanded proper compensation but right now none of the businessman are able to talk what they will do as nothing left with them. Pradip De, a fruit shopkeeper who had huge stocks of fruit items and cashew nuts in his shop claimed that he lost his shop devastating him with 3 lakhs of losses. "I was called by local people in mobile at 4.30 am. They informing me that fire has sparked out in Battala market and immediately I rushed to the spot. After I reach here, I found whole shop is burnt and left nothing ! The worth of the items were around 3 lakhs and cash was not much but Rs. 15,000 of cashes are also burnt".
But when lakhs of losses are being reported, only Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 has been announced for businessmen by CM. CM however blamed the unscientific construction under CPI-M era are causing everyday mess in this area.
Earlier, at Kalyani area in same way markets were burnt but they have not yet received the announced compensation.
The businessmen of Battala there have been devastated with the unexpected fate day after Laxmi Puja. Total 18 shops were more or less affected in this fire incident, whereas 7 shops have turned into ashes.
