AGARTALA, Oct 24 (TIWN): Tripura is celebrating Kojagiri Purnima/Sharad Purnima/Ashwin Purnima, which has fall on the full moon night on Wednesday.
Kojagiri Purnima Puja is celebrated in whole of India with different names. In Bengal & Tripura it is celebrated as Sharad Purnima Lakshmi Puja, Orissa it is known as Kumar Purnima and celebrated as Gajlakshmi Puja and in Mithilanchal as Kojagari lakshmi Puja.
kojagari Lakshmi puja is a worship and praise of Mahalakshmi. Devotees show respect towards Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. During the tradition of kojagari laxmi puja, special offerings are paid to Goddess Lakshmi, the Nine Planets to seek blessings and good fortune for all family members.
Lakshmi is the goddess of light, beauty, good fortune and wealth. While Laxmi is generally worshiped to achieve success, she does not reside with anyone who is disinclined to work and wish her only as wealth.
