AGARTALA, September 24 (TIWN): “The Government is making the excuse in a way which states No Arrest No Suspension, but in such a case, arrest should be made”, said the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesman Dr. Ashok Sinkha on the Bimal Chakraborty issue involving the Bishalgarh RD block scam worth Rs. 17 crore, in an exclusive talk with TIWN.

The elusive Bimal is yet to be traced and the same has been turned into a blessing for him as he is still in service as the authority till now has not issued any suspension letter.

“Bimal Chakraborty is not only the right hand man of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar but his two brothers Amal Chakraborty (DYFI Secretary), TSR Commandant Kamal Chakraborty  are holding influential positions in the political and administrative section of the ruling government ”, said Dr. Sinha while terming Bimal Chakraborty’s family a trusted family of CPI (M).Truth speaks for itself. And when the people in power affirm the same, nothing remains to unfold but the action. The top notch bureaucrat of the state,  Chief Secretary expressed to the Congress delegation team: “Relating to this RD block scam, -  much Bigger things may be unearthed.”

While talking to TIWN correspondent, Dr Sinha further commented that two laws are relevant in the case of Bishalgargh RD block scam and these are Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. “The Prevention of Corruption Act has provision to bring all the persons involved from top to bottom within the purview of legal obligation and by not imposing this section the concerned Police Station has made the way for Bimal's escape smoothly by the guardians (!) of Bimal”, remarked Dr. Sinha apart from also telling that the Police registered the case under IPC section , whch will make Bimal go scot-free soon.

However, the Director General of Police (DGP) assured the Congress deputation team thar if proper section is not imposed in the case they would look into the matter. On being asked about his arrest, the DG simply evaded by sounding like just another man in the society – “Arrest has not been made because he has not been found.” As the wrongdoings of Bimal related to financial aspects and legitimacy of fund utilization, reliable evidential documents and certified reports are needed, it was hard enough to mark out Bimal, remarked Dr. Sinha. As TIWN sources report, these sorts of papers and proofs are now being leaked out by none else but the CPI (M) activists themselves. This intragroup conflict, now, may mean that the distribution of stolen money was not proportionate. Replying to the question whether the PCC has spoken to the authority of Bishalgarh PS or not, Dr. Sinha has said that PCC President had a talk with the Bishalgargh PS so to deliver results without any delay.

Meanwhile, apart from writing to Prime Minister and union Rural Development Minister the Congress is met Governor in this regard. “If the corruption case in not fixed in an acceptable and legitimate way, we shall move to High Court (HC) and file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL)”.
