AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): After decreasing 5 rupees per litre of petrol price once again it has started increasing in Tripura.
On Saturday fuel price was hiked at 28 paisa than yesterday's 70.70 rupees to 77.98 rupees.
This increase was suspected since the 5 rupees were down calling it "historical" decision by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.
Congress leader Gopal Roy in an interview with TIWN said the State Govt is unnecessarily imposing 24% tax whereas Central Govt imposed another 19% tax. If taxes of 12% by State Govt and 10% by Central Govt are being cut then the price will be downed at 60. In total now the fuel tax in Tripura is 43%.
"Congress want the Govt to reduce the high taxes looting over fuel. What is the necessity of taxing fuel so high ? This down was to fool the mass and an eyewash", Gopal Roy told TIWN.
With unrelenting increase in fuel prices, the government on Thursday decided to effect a cut in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre.Finance Minsiter Arun Jaitley announced at a press conference that the cut will be effected through slashing of excise duty to the tune of Rs 1.50 per litre, while the oil marketing companies will absorb the impact to the tune of Re 1 per litre.
However, petrol prices continue to jump high with a fresh 28 paisa was increased today.
