AGARTALA, September 23 (TIWN): Arnab, Bimal and now another feather added to Tripura’s corruption crown and this is Rs. 2.5crore monetary irregularity in the department of Agriculture and Horticulture. Though the initial audit report is speaking of the said amount only but the same may touch a hefty Rs. 20 crore, if audit is made on all the department of agriculture and horticulture, anticipating the audit team.
A special audit team of finance department and the internal audit of the department have found a scam of Rs. 2.5 crore. By not purchasing any fertilizers, seeds and pesticides, the corrupted employees and officials have pocketed crores of rupees, revel the audit report. Only the financial reports are showing the materials were purchased but nothing existed at the time of inspection. Besides, the horticulture office of South district is purchasing low grade vermin compost and agricultural equipments and machineries, which are reported not to good enough. Furthermore, the Kumarghat office of the horticulture department is undergoing audit to unfold discrepancy worth crores of rupees relating to purchasing and improper utilisation of funds. The department is all set to take actions against the then Deputy Director. The notice will be served soon. Amarpur agriculture office will also be audited soon.
