AGARTALA, Sept 22 (TIWN): A contingent of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) headed by TPCC President and MLA- Diba Chandra Chandra Hrangkhawl today submitted deputation to the Director General of Police centering the massive scam of worth Rs. 17 crore which took place in Bishalgarh RD Block in Tripura during the FY 2012-13 and 2013-14. It is to be noted here; an FIR was lodged and registered on September 19, this year- BLG PS Case no- 135/2014 in this regard.According to the deputation letter to DGP, TPCC mentioned surprisingly no section of the Prevention of Corruption Act- 1988 has been inserted with an ill motive. In the letter to DGP, TPCC claimed that they have got definite information and sufficient reasons to believe that the State Finance Minister and the local elected representative- Bhanu Lal Saha is also part and parcel in the scam and probably that is the reason that no action has been initiated so far either by the police or by the civil administration.

It was also mentioned in the deputation letter that in spite of the fact that the complainant Subrata Kumar Das, Block Development Officer (BDO), Bishalgarh had specifically mentioned to implicate all the accused under the provision of Prevention of Corruption Act- 1988 but the police has registered the case only under IPC section which indicates that the police is under immense political pressure from their political masters not to act as per the provisions of law.

TPCC also astonished to find that neither any one of the accused in the FIR has been booked nor has the government suspended them from the service giving them the scope to either abscond or to destroy various relevant documents pertaining to the scam.

TPCC demanded to ensure that a senior IPS officer is deputed to monitor the investigation and also to withstand the immense political pressure by the party in power upon the investigating officer and to add proper section of Prevention of Corruption Act- 188 in the case.

The General Secretary of TPCC- Dr. Ashok Sinha, Working President of TPCC- Ashis Kumar Saha, TPCC Treasurer- Dilip Deb, President of Mahila Congress- Kalyani Roy, President of Youth Congress- Sushanta Chowdhury, Executive Members of TPCC- Pijush Kanti Biswas and Ananta Banerjee were also part of the deputation.
