AGARTALA, September 22 (TIWN): From a simple house dwellers of Bagma to an influential family of ruling CPI(M), the rise of Bimal Chakraborty and his family is almost like the mysterious magic series of P C Sorker's Indrajaal. Indeed, under the patronages of CPI(M) party, the Chakraborty family has assumed a status of very special family of Left ruled State Govt of Tripura. From a Panchayat Extension Officer to the BDO of Bishalgarh R D Block, the service life of Bimal Chakraborty has always been blessed by top level CPI(M) leaders of like Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, former ICAT Minister cum current Vice-Chairman of State Planning Board Anil Sarkar and even current Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha and many MLAs of Udaipur, Melaghar, Khowai and of course Agartala and Bishalgarh. Under patronages of such leaders, BDO Bimal Chakraborty has succeeded to amass immense wealth through various means of corruption.

 His intimacy with his so-called 'Manikda' to is well known inside and outside . As such, even though the Special Internal Audit was audited during 05/05/2014 to 30/06/2014 and duly submitted in the Office of the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Secretariat, such reports have been intentionally suppressed the IAR for more than three months. This has once again raised the question about the so-called highest and clean image of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. But as per a top level official of state govt , "Chief Minister had considerable reasons for showing leniencies against the corrupt BDO Bimal Chakraborty. At the same time Bimal Chakraborty, his Kolkata based brother Shyamal Chakraborty, other two brothers Amal Chakraborty (State DYFI Secretary), TSR 11^th Battalion Commandant Kamal Chakraborty – all four Chakraborty brothers amassed immense wealth by using their political connections and closeness to Chief Minister, ruling party’s bigwigs. If Manik Sarkar is serious about his clean image, then an impartial probe should be ordered to investigate all four brothers Banks accounts, Real estate properties in Kolkata and Agartala, Bisalgarh, Udaipur.

Soon after the assembly election is over Manik Sarkar had brought Bimal in ICA department given full charge of publication of the department. In the celebration of 50^th year of Tripura assembly Bimal was seen to addressing Mr Sarkar as “Manikda” in public violating all protocol but Sarkar was happy to interact him.

Block Development Officer (BDO) Bishalgarh in West Tripura Subrata Das lodged FIR against his predecessor Bimal Chakraborty and his other juniors in different ranks for siphoning off of the amount in 2012-13 and 2013-14 financial years had been sanctioned under centrally sponsored schemes.

Police has registered case against the accused under non-bailable sections of IPC and launched investigation. However, police claimed that Bimal Chakraborty, incumbent Assistant Director of Information department was absconding since few days.

“We have put alert in all the police stations and airport to prevent his outside movement from the state to evade the arrest and we are keeping a close watch on his other family members since they are belonging to an influential family,” said a Senior Police officer on Friday.

Police is also said that, the then District Magistrate of West Tripura and present District Magistrate of Amravati in Maharashtra Kiran Gitte is also accused of non-action in the corruption case rather suspected to be involved in the scam.

“The special audit observed that Mr Gitte being head of the project implementation team was suspiciously failed to make the adjustment of the fund. He neither took action against BDO Mr Chakraborty nor reported it to the administration and without clearing all pending financial issues he left the cadre and joined in Maharashtra cadre,” police stated.

Mr Gitte however, also accused of bringing chit fund company Prayag Group of Industries in the state in 2006 and patronizing them to sign MoU with Tripura government at the cost of 10 percent of the total project cost more than about Rs 3 Cr from Agartala Municipal authority for producing bio-fertilizer from degradable solid waste.

Even though with poor skills in English and Bengali, Bimal Chakraborty was entrusted to convert earlier Chief Secretary Dr S.K.Panda’s book “One Plus One = Eleven” to Bengali version of 'Eker Sathe Ek Mile Egaro' . Again political analysts allege that there is no doubt that because of the instructions coming from CMO Office,  Bimal Chakraborty was handed the charge of the ICA Department - Bimal functioned more like a de-facto Director of ICA.

    What is more interesting is that when the Saradha scam and the involvement of TMC leaders of West Bengal came to light , Chief Minister Manik Sarkar came out declaring CBI probe in the scam in order to probe in the Saradha Scam in Tripura. But when it comes to RMSA or MGNREGA scams in Tripura, same 'clean and honest Chief Minister' is totally silent. Is is because of party obligation? Or is it due to craze for the chair like CM that prevents him from taking any action against any corrupt official as all of them are more or less backed by CPI(M) leaders.

    In the back to back scams the interesting facts that are coming out are as follows:-

       And corrupt BDO Bimal Chakraborty's influence due to his brother cum DYFI state committee Secretary Amal Chakraborty is so much that even the police officials in Bishalgarh police station do not hesitate to say that they don't know the mobile number of Investigation Officer's name. Interestingly IO in this case is Officer In charge of the P S Kanti Lal Baidya. as it possible that a subordinate staffs won't know the mobile no  of the OC ? 

3) Why would O C Kanti Lal Baidya said," If you want to know anything about the names of the accused, you may consult with Police Headquarters(PHQ)? Is it an attempt to suppress the truth or an attempt to act as per instruction of CPI(M) party?

     Kanti Lal Baidya's father Late Anil Baidya of Jolaibari was one of the most influential CPI(M) party leaders in the South Tripura District. And Kanti Lal too is acting as he is instructed by his 'political Dadas'.
