Agartala, September 21 (TIWN): The state government is expecting to complete construction of the Indo-Bangla Maitri Park at Chottakhola in Belonia sub-division ahead of schedule for inauguration on February 21, 2015.
Minister for Rural Development (RD) and Forests Naresh Jamatia today visited ongoing works at the Chottakhola Maitri Park to supervise progress of work.
The then External Affairs minister of Bangladesh Dr. Dipu Moni laid foundation stone for the Chottakhola Maitri in 2010; construction work developing the park is underway since then.
Interacting with the media after completing his visit this afternoon, Jamatia said that work was well in progress for developing the Maitri Park.
The Park is expected to be inaugurated on the forthcoming International Mother Language Day.
There used to be altogether 11 war fronts in Tripura during the 1971 liberation struggle of Bangladesh, Jamatia said adding that Chottakhola Park used to be one of the base camps for Muktibahini soldiers. Bangladesh foreign minister Dipu Moni visited Tripura in 2010 and laid the foundation stone of the Park.
