Govt to create 'Teachers Bank' with TET qualified teachers, TET qualification doesn't mean Recruitment : 25 classes for each teacher per week mandatory from now

AGARTALA, Sep 27 (TIWN): Qualifying in "Teachers Eligibility Test" (TET) is no more meant getting appointment letters for Tripura Teaching job aspirants. Tripura Education Minister Ratan lal Nath on Thursday after cabinet meeting told media, Govt is creating Teachers Bank, which means numbers of qualified teachers will be kept but all the Teachers in the so called Bank will not get Govt school's offer letter at a same time as private schools also need teachers. However, TET qualification will be the first step to be qualified as a teacher. Amid teachers crisis, Govt will have to do that as in private schools qualified teachers are needed for quality education. Ratan lal Nath also announced that at least 25 classes each teacher will take per week which means around total 4-5 classes per day as Tripura schools are suffering from teachers crisis. It was also mentioned by the Education Minister that each teacher will take care of selected 20 students of his / her school so that all students get proper education and teachers' attentions".

"The Education Minister said, "We have 7,29,177 students whereas 48,780 teachers are there and out of them 40,647 are only Govt teachers". 

It was announced that at least 1222 teachers who are already TET qualified and were served with offer letters in July month will get postings before Durga Puja and after Durga Puja they can join in their respective schools. Out of 1222 teachers 1088 are GT and 134 are PGT. 

There are also ongoing interviews (For UGT i.e. Class-1 to 5 1789 candidates have applied and for GT i.e. 6 to 8, total 2337 teachers for 2762 posts have appeared).
