Agitation, protest held by terminated workers of closed tobacco company

AGARTALA, Aug 18 (TIWN): As the owner of the closed tobacco company today also missed the meeting and avoided facing the workers, the tobacco company staffs have staged agitation in the Labour Office.

The tobacco company which was suddenly closed after the election, has left many workers workless in Tripura.

However, no action has been taken against the company owner for the violation of law with the termination of the employees.

Now, the tobacco company’s terminated workers have accepted that they will not get any other alternative option for work, neither any govt help.

Thus they have demanded experience certificate, proper payment, EPF savings, surrendered certificate etc and according to their demand the owner was asked to come today, due to his absence the terminated staffs came with angry reactions.

On May 14, suddenly a tobacco company was closed which was established at there for long 18-19 years.

Company named ‘Dharamapal-Satyapal’ tobacco company at Agartala AD Nagar sudden closing by the authority after two decades of continuous business here loaded with 169 jobless people.

Jobless victims of closed tobacco company have once again come held protests, demonstrations demanding alternative jobs for them from the govt of Tripura.

The agitated workers who have been working in this company for long 18-19 years have gheroaed the Labour Commissioner twice.

The local authority of the company Pramod Sharma on May 13 dictated the security guard to lock the company and on the next day the workers found a paper pasted on the door that ‘Company closed’. Even after calling by the Labour Commission, the company owner didn’t come led mass anger among the jobless people.
