AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Due to no fresh order to keep point to point auto fair charges, unruly auto drivers are going beyond limits with their passenger-harassing attitude.

Along with BMS, various new unions in new names are emerging in Tripura. On the one side, the fuell price hike has hit the people with high fares and at the same time double fairs collection by unruly auto drivers has been continuing.

Public have demanded point to point auto fare chart. The fare was hiked per km but Transport Dept never make any chart to make the fare clear and as a result the fare never downs below 10 rupees either a person travel 1 km or 5 km. In broad day light auto drivers are running overloaded vehicles but the traffic men only find the bikers to fine.

Moreover, it’s High Court’s order not to carry above 3 passengers and taking the order in hand, Congress to BJP years after years had fought for public rights against the previous CPI-M Govt, but when they themselves are in power Transport Dept has become a puppet in unruly auto drivers’ hand.

Many emails, phone calls are coming from TIWN-readers who are demanding the chart system for the fares.

One passenger has alleged, the long journey buses have made fake charts to fool passengers taking the opportunity of Govt’s paralyzed dept.

The auto drivers openly reply the passengers if they ask why more than 3 passenger are taken, “We don’t need passengers like you, find out another auto”.

Thus, either CITU or BMS all are above the passengers and till day working as private armies of ruling parties. BJP led by Chief Minister Biplab Deb apart from long lectures in reality has failed to establish a ‘Rule of Law’ and the auto drivers unruliness is a part of it.
