AGARTALA, September 12 (TIWN): The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) today denied credibility to the demands of separate statehood raised by IPFT and said that the party would never support such demands. INPT supremo Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl today said that thousands of INPT supporters were made to believe that he would be present in the IPFT rally held in Agartala recently owing which the rally could exhibit a large gathering.
“Many of them were INPT supporters who were mislead and confused to join the rally’, he said.
The statement from the INPT chief came as a fatal blow to the winds of Twipraland as both CPI (M) and Congress had earlier severely criticized the issue. The fact about misleading INPT supporters into joining IPFT rally demanding separate state has only ended the latter into soup.
“We have struggled for decades now for more power to the TTAADC. People raising demands of Twipraland are only trying to mislead people”, INPT chief BK Hrangkhawl said.
He added that a five member delegation of the INPT would be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a visit to Delhi by end September.
Hrangkhawl further added that the party would be holding an agitating on seven point demands including more power to ADC, amendment of the Tripura Land Reforms Act, 1960, direct funding to district council authorities etc.
