Manu by-election: Election duty voters to cast votes on Tuesday

Agartala, September 8 (TIWN): Election Duty Voters (EDV) would be casting their postal ballot votes at a PB facilitation centre at the office of Returning Officer (RO) in Sabroom on Tuesday, Tripura Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashutosh Jindal said.

Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here this evening, the CEO said that postal ballot voting would be held on Tuesday. Returning Officer for the by-election at 39 Manu assembly constituency today said that 41 election duty voters applied for postal ballots till date. The postal ballot voting is expected to be completed on the first day itself, he said. The second phase of mock poll exercise of poll personnel engaged for the by-election was held at the Sabroom SDM Office today. All poll personnel engaged for poll duty at the constituency participated in the by-election. Thirty-eight micro-observers alongwith 10 percent reserve micro-observer force would be trained on September 09, the Returning Officer said. All 46 polling stations spread across 38 locations in the constituency are currently undergoing vulnerability assessment. Sherring Angchuk, appointed General Observer for the by-election by Election Commission of India (ECI), and Expenditure Observer Gopesh Chandra Das are currently camping in the constituency for the past few days. The by-election wouldn’t reportedly have any separate police observer owing to which the general observer would be handling law and order issues relating to the election. Campaign for the by-election would concluded on September 11, international border with Bangladesh would get sealed 48 hours ahead of the date of poll slated on September 13. Counting of votes would be conducted from 8 AM onwards on September 16.
