AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today lambasted the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre and said that the new government had failed to fulfill all its promises that propelled it to power.
Speaking at a rally organized by the Tripura Motor Sramik Union at Agartala this afternoon, Chief Minister Sarkar said that the first hundred days of Narendra Modi government were as disillusioning as ever. “People voted for Narendra Modi and his party in an exceptional juncture of history when there were rampant incidents of corruption and extreme price rise and no solution in sight with the UPA government. The new government was voted into power to bring in a change and they have rather disinvested the nation’s assets furtherâ€, the Chief Minister said.
He jibed the NDA government and said that introducing foreign direct investments into retail, insurances, defense, railways and other sectors would only lead the country to worse days. The CM called for raising statewide stir against the policies of the new government and said, “It’s tough to judge a new government based on three months of function but then the morning shows the day”.
“These can’t be good days”, the Chief Minister said adding that the government was heading towards a great economic catastrophe with downscaling of MG NREGS, the national rural poverty alleviation programme.
Speakers including CPI (M) trader union leader and incumbent MP Sankar Prasad Dutta equally criticized the NDA government and said that worse days are coming ahead.
