AGARTALA, May 20 (TIWN): Unscientific drain mechanism by Agartala Municipality Corporation led once again the city to flood by rain water, added by dirty flows from the municipality managed drains on Sunday. Various parts of Agartala City, including National Highway has been suffering due to heavy water-logging since the morning following the early morning’s heavy rains. On May 18, Agartala City had saw the first flood after Thursday night's rain and Chief Minister Biplab Deb himself walked through the flood water to inspect the miseries and condition of the citizens. After inspecting, Chief Minister released Rs.7 crore immediately for the drainage system's recovery but at the same time the Chief Minister also sought one year to ‘end’ the miseries of the public permanently as the monsoon has already started before govt could properly start its work.

Thus it’s expected for another year the suffering will be continued as Biplab Deb also said, "No water-logging from 2019".

Major parts of the Capital City is now under waterlogging including the National Highway at Chandrapur. Normal lives have been heavily disrupted due to the unwanted, repeated flood like situations.

However, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, by the next year such problems will not irritate the public much.

Assuring about solving the water logging problems within a year, CM told media, "It's not practically possible for me to end all problems related to drainage system within 15 days or a month. Due to the monsoon arrived early, work development is not possible right now, but our govt is working in direction to end the problems within next year".

There will be no water-logging in Agartala from the next year, said the Chief Minister.
