AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Tripura Congress activists celebrated Karnataka victory at the Agartala Congress Bhawan, distributed Laddus among the public and burnt firecrackers.

Tripura Congress leader Gopal Roy who challenged that Congress will win the Karnataka election and SC's verdict will be in favour of Congress after the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said, “Once again it’s proven that BJP doesn’t follow the Indian constitution. They must take a lesson from today’s defeat”.

Gopal Roy on May 17 druing AKROSH-rally had accused Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala as a ‘rapist’ of democracy after he called BJP to form a govt at there.  Today after the defeat of BJP at there, he repeated his comment.

The Youth Congress members distributed ‘Laddus’ among the mass to mark the celebration.

On the other said, Congress National President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the BJP and the RSS following resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, saying hopefully they got a lesson that institutions and will of the country cannot be disrespected.

Gandhi addressed the media here shortly after Yeddyurappa resigned ahead of the crucial trust vote, as the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) could not muster the numbers in the assembly.

He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of promoting corruption in Karnataka to gain support for the BJP, which emerged the single-largest party amid split verdict thrown up by the May 12 assembly election.

"The Prime Minister is encouraging corruption...," Gandhi alleged.
