AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): With a good news for the 8 lakh unemployed youths in Tripura, newly empowered BJP led state govt has introduced a new recruitment policy abolishing direct appointments system via Viva tests. Addressing a press conference, Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “We have abolished the old recruitment policy of the previous govt. From Group-A to Group-D all appointments all will be proceeded through the written tests only, whereas in case of Group-A, Group-B the viva will be videographed. Group-C & Group-D will be totally on written basis”. “Many people may be hurt with that decision but for the larger section’s interest it was necessary. Before coming in power, we promised in our Vision Document that free and fair interview process will be launched in Tripura and now we have taken the initiative to fulfill our promise", the Law Minister told media at the Secretariat. “The candidates who deserve the posts they will only get the jobs from now. Only qualified candidates are welcome in this administration”, Nath added. Also 10 % reservation has been introduced in Police Dept for women to ensure more numbers of women police under Tripura Police force.

Introducing 10 % reservation for women in police dept, Nath said, "Now there are 26,000 police officials working under Tripura Govt but among them only 1,200 are women, which means only 4 %. Thus from now each appointment in the police dept will be felicitate 10 % reservation to women. We will think to increase the percentage more in coming days”.

The Minister also announced that not more than 10 % can be kept for in Viva tests and the whole viva test will be videographed, so that no official in the Interview Board can favour any candidate with marks.

The decisions were taken on Saturday's cabinet meeting.
