UDAIPUR, September 4 (TIWN): Udaipur witnessed unruly situation simply due to the whimsical attitude of the Health Department regarding the shifting of the patients, equipments from Tripura Sundari Hospital to District Hospital Tepania. On 3rd September, replying to a question of MLA Pranajit Singha Roy in the Assembly session, Health Minister Badal Choudhury told "Tripura Sundari Sub Divisional Hospital, Gomati District Hospital will operate simultaneously and independently with facilities as per their category." But on that very date when the Health Minister made his statement, Health Ministry simply cheated the people of Udaipur. Under protection from police all the necassary equipments and almost all the patients ( baring 11 pregnant patients and 5 new born children) were shifted to the District Hospital. But the way the authorities shifted the paitients had crossed all the limits of humanity. It is learnt that the master mind of this blue print is Medical Super Dr Debasish Roy.

Medical Super Dr. Debasish Roy's arrogance was such that he did not even consult with CMO before shifting the patients.

     But on Thursday people of Udaipur lost their patience and came out to streets in protests. At 11am people came to know that MLA Pranajit Singha Roy would visit Tripura Sundari Hospital and all on a sudden people decided to gherao him. At 11.15am MLA came with his party colleagues and straightway gheraod the CMO Dr Nirumohan Jamatia. Replying to a question of the MLA, CMO said that he has nothing to do with it as the entire episode was dealt by Medical Super(MS). At this  DCM Sabyasachi Singh wanted to know from CMO, " Who will be responsible if any untoward incident happens disturbing the Law & Order - CMO? MS? Health Department? Why have you not made earlier notification clearly telling the people about this shifting procedure?" Then the DCM informed DM Gomati Sonal Goel . DM asked the MS Dr Debasish Roy to come to CMO office and hold talks with political representatives in presence of ADM L T DARLING, SDM Ajit Debnath , SDPO Ratan Kumar Das , SDMO Dr Vishnu Dey. But MS informed that in Radhakishorepur police station he is afraid of his security. A DM office sources told TIWN, " Hearing this reply DM threatened that MS be arrested. And then MS came to CMO office under protection given by SDPO Udaipur ."

       When the MLA asked him about the deserted Tripura Sundari Hospital, MS tried to refuse allegations saying that all the patients had been discharged and only 10-16 remained there and they are being treated. Then CPI(ML) leader Partha Karmakar said, " On 2nd September there were 166 patients up to late light and all on a sudden they are discharged! It is true?" He said that a three month old baby of Sunil and Arati Das of Murapara died due to negligence of admission. On Wednesday they came to the Tripura Sundari Hospital with their baby but the hospital refused to admit him and suggested them to take the baby to District Hospital. Being a poor couple they took a long time to arrange an auto on rent but when they reached Tepania , the doctors declared the baby dead.

     Meanwhile people from all corners blocked NH44 at Brahmabari, Ramesh Chowmahani setting fire on tyres and gradually the movement spread to N T Road and Central Road. SP Gomati himself came out and tried to persuade the agitated people. Under pressure from all corners , CMO, MS and SDMO came out in public and assured them with following promises:-

1) 2 specialist doctors( Child and Gynaechology)will sit in Sub Divisional hospital twice a week as part of temporary solution until department posts more staffs

2) A technician will be assisted by a doctor and two nurses in CCU

3) Sonography and ECG units too have technicians

4) With in fifteen days 7 doctors, 11 nurses and 10 GDA staffs will be appointed in Tripura Sundari Hospital

5) Minor operation and delivery will be conducted as earlier

6) All male and female patients will be attended by the doctors and nurses

7) No other equipments will be shifted to District hospital except the Pregnancy Testing machine

8) Under Secretary, Health Department will visit both the hospitals soon( it is learnt in 7th)

      Speaking to TIWN over phone DM Gomati Sonal Goel said on Friday night , " I had talks with the Secretary of Health Department couple of times. And he assured me that as per the parameters Sub Divisional and District Hospital will have their facilities. Actually the public still have not understood the situation as the department has not taken adequate steps to make them aware. I myself requested the Secretary so that necessary steps are taken to facilitate services as expected in a sub divisional hospital."
