UDAIPUR, May 9 (TIWN): Three day long Rajarshi Fair has been started at Udaipur from today, erstwhile capital of Tripura on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti.

The fair inaugurated by Chief Minister Biplab Deb at ‘Rajarshi Mukta Mancha’ in Old Royal palace. Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, BJP MLA Rampada Jamatia, CPI-M MLA Ex-Minister Ratan Bhowmik were also present on that occasion.

Addressing the gathering Biplab Deb said, “Rabindranath Tagore is the symbol of peace. For any place’s development also peace is very much important and Tagore was the symbol of peace and tranquility”.

“Tagore’s dialogue in Bisarjan like plays as Eto-Rokto-Keno (why so much of blood),  had won over hatred and inhumanity” said CM.

Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, “Tagore was also very close to nature and this Old Royal Palace also place of natural beauty, peace and tranquility”.

MLA Ratan Bhowmik also said, without peace development can't be taken place and Rabindranath Tagore's writings were based those importance of 'peace'.

This “Rajarshi Mela” is commemorating in Old Royal Palace of Udaipur since many years and like every year the Panchayat of Rajnagar area, is directing the preparatory works to make this fair successful. Many governmental stalls have been set-up and local shop keepers are in full mood of business, TIWN Udaipur correspondent reported.

It has been said that Tagore had a very pleasant relation with King Birchandra Manikya which inspired him to pen “Rajarshi” (The Saintly King) and “Visharjan” (Immersion). These two stories are in actually brews of fiction and reality, which till now creates curiosity among the people from far distance to visit Tripura for once in life. Unfortunately like the maximum historical places of Tripura this place has also lost its charms due to the negligence of Tourism department of Tripura and a single statue of Tagore, which is being placed over there is unable to describe Tagore’s adjacent relation with the Old Royal Palace and its kings.
