AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): CPI-M MP Jiten Chowdhury has condemned the ongoing clashes among BJP and IPFT saying due to the power competition among BJP and IPFT, the poor people are unable to get rural jobs. Addressing a press conference Jiten Chowdhury at Melarmath CPI-M Headquarter said, “When state is suffering from MGNREGA job-crisis, the power clashes among BJP and IPFT are halting all developmental worksâ€. “We also condemn the IPFT led attack upon the BJP MLA. Such tensions should not exist when two parties are working together. The Govt may be new, which crossed only 2 months, but the symptoms are not goodâ€. “On May day in CPI-M tribal wings programme, some non-tribal BJP activists held attacked, whereas BJP belongs to tribals and non-tribals both. We understood the danger, as if clash occurs, the meaning of the fight will go in wrong direction. So we stopped the programme immediatelyâ€, he said.
“Another dangerous sign glimpsing from the attitude of the BJP-IPFT aligned ruling party is that the IPFT is trying to occupy the hills and the BJP is trying to grab the plain areas by force and that’s what is going on across the state since the election was ended. This is totally an undemocratic way of ruling”, Jiten Chowdhury said.
“IPFT is now trying to impose that hills mean only for IPFT including Muslims but all have to be indigenous people, whereas Tripura belongs to the mixed culture”, he said.
Being asked by media regarding the undeveloped ADC areas, Jiten Chowdhury said, “Whatever has been done at the hills, only Left Govt has done for the development. Many works we could not do even though we wanted to do”.
Regarding the MGNREGA works' long suspension, the MP said, “Why MGNREGA works have been stopped in Tripura ? In the last month I wrote a letter to the Chief Minister asking him to release the December and January month’s wages. However, Govt has cleared all pending wages accordingly, but after that no MGNREGA work was provided leading heavy crisis among the poor families. At villages the men are provided with Rs. 100 of wages, whereas women get Rs. 50. In this situation, how should they live and run families ?”
“Even Dhalai Dist which was awarded for excellent works, has been provided with only 42 days of MGNREGA works. In such situations, IPFT and BJP’s power clashes are leading more crisis situations across rural areas and hills”, the MP told media.
