AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): When state is suffering from huge unemployment rates, at least 1500 youths were recruited by the South Indian Textile companies who conducted a job fair here in Tripura recently. The two day long job fair was conducted from April 25 to 26 by “Southern India Mills Association" (SIMA). The Tripura youths were provided with a special train for traveling whereas after reaching at there the companies will give them free accommodation and also manage free meals. After 3 months of training they will be recruited by the companies. At 3 pm the train had left from Agartala Railway station. South Indian Textile mills under "Southern India Mills Association" (SIMA) in South India, had conducted a job fair at Agartala on April 25-26 to recruit workers directly. Southern India Mills’ Association chairman P. Nataraj earlier said there was a meeting recently where they studied the problems are being faced by mills in recruiting employees. Today 462 youths left by train.

The association had proposed many states including Tripura and the Tripura Government responded immediately. Seven textile industries are here to recruit about 4,000 workers.

“This is on a trial basis and the candidates can join work immediately. There are several schemes of the Central government under which the mills will train the workers for three months and then induct them as operators,” Mr. Nataraj said to media on the background of the fair.

Presently Tripura is topping in unemployment rate, whereas the Chief Minister Biplab Deb has challenged to appoint 7 lakhs youths within next 30 months in various jobs.
