AGARTALA / KORBOOK, April 14 (TIWN): CPI-M MP Jitendra Chowdhury in a letter to BJP Chief Minister Biplab Deb has raised various ongoing crucial issues. Among the issues, one was the ongoing MG-NREGA works suspension in deep rural areas as Silacharri and Korbook area.
The MP told the Chief Minister via letter, “The entire Korbook and Silachari areas being comparatively a dry and border zone. The families belong to BPL categories and largely dependent upon works during this period under MG-NREGA or other govt schemes. But since February month, there has been no sort of work provided by the blocks or anyother Govt departments in the subdivision”.
“If this continues another 2/ 3 weeks, it may lead to near famine situation in hilly areas. On inquiry from the DM & Collector, Gomati Dist, it has been learnt that only the next week some release may take place under MG-NREGA”, the MP informed the Chief Minister.
Jiten Chowdhury also reminded the Chief Minister how the things are becoming worse in festive seasons and due to ‘no MGNREGA work’ poor people have been deprived of minimum celebrations in their homes.
Alleging about the ongoing violence, MP said law and order is totally collapsed and opposite to CM’s much hyped peaceful post-poll environment.
The party offices of CPI-M across Kokbook have also remained closed. “BACs are not holding their regular meetings in the absence of conductive environment and public interest is being hampered a lot”, MP told CM.
