AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN):In the name of peace rally against War on Monday, Left Front government in Tripura has virtually demonstrated their strength on street across the state to estimate the public anger on Manik Sarkar led government.The pre-planned street show led to unauthorised closure of public offices, prevented traffic movement and killed half-day of ongoing monsoon session of assembly by cutting short the scheduled businesses. Hospital services were disrupted after 1 pm and all other office staff including the school children has been allegedly forcefully brought to join the rally during scorching sunlight across the state.

The employees except the all India service officers were whipped to join the rally at 2 pm in the respective gathering places in all 23 sub-divisions across the state. Even the medical professionals and secretariat staff were not spared that triggered serious reaction among the commoners as well as the employees.

Top CPI-M leaders including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and other colleagues of his cabinet, MPs, so called intellectuals align to CPI-M, teachers and employees with the small kids walked on the street demonstrating for peace.

In Agartala, the rally started from Vivekananda stadium and moved to all major roads of the city via Women’s College and Kaman Chowmuhani covering about 5 kilometres of road stretches preventing normal traffic movements.

Entire police force including paramilitary force TSR was brought down to street with automatic weapons to guard the peace brokers in the rally that otherwise, terrorised the environment and create an ambience of war like situation.

“I can’t understand how this rally could bring peace in the society unless we ensure civil and political right of the individuals and giving all amenities and service to the citizen rather this kind of practice at state sponsorship will further destroy work culture,” said a senior civil servant, as he was stuck up till 9 pm in the office with three staff for preparing assembly replies for Tuesday.

He rues despite requesting the employees to return office after rally, nobody turned back and enjoyed paid holiday on Monday. But the head of offices had suffered a lot on Monday because of such irresponsible act of the government and administration.

The officer stated that leftists never oppose war or disintegration ideologically. They believe contradiction and fight in all respect in human society are the only option to restore and retain democracy but interestingly in the name of peace, Manik Sarkar stamped on idiotism again.

At a time when left front government are not paying the due benefits of the employees and the state government is severely criticised from different corners for depriving employees, the party used their organisation to show off their strength on the street and divert the attention of the commoners.
