AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Advocate General cum senior Advocate at High Court Arun Kanti Bhowmik today told the High Court that the state govt is ready to handover much delayed Santanu murder case to CBI. Adv Samrat Kar Bhowmik asked Arun Bhowmik to clarify the matter as the previous govt denied to handover the case to CBI. However, Tripura BJP Govt has already announced that both Santanu murder case and Sudip Datta Bhaumik murder case will be handed over to CBI. But the previous state govt under CPI-M rejected the plea of CBI investigation in Santanu murder case, who was killed on Sept 20, 2017. The murder of the young journalist Santanu Bhaumik took place before 7 months in a brutal attack during political clash. The young journalist was associated with various electronic media who has been killed while covering IPFT and CPI-M clash at Mandai on that day. The barbaric murder had taken place when after getting informed about an ongoing tension on that hilly zone, Santanu rushed to Mandai ADC area to cover the incident.
But, while covering the event suddenly an attack was held upon him with sharp weapons (Da) and continuously the attackers were injuring him.
Santanu was 28 years old, born on 12 January, 1989, had huge potentialities to emerge as a veteran journalist. His murder raised roars of protest across Tripura and also across the country.
Just 31days after Santanu’s murder, Tripura's another senior journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was killed by a Tripura State Rifles jawan. Tripura's newly formed BJP Govt has decided to handover both the journalists' murder cases to CBI.
