AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): River Howarh has led the Agartala city to suffer years after years with its overflowing flood water and thousands of houses were also collapsed due to Howrah river led floods in past few years but after a political change most likely people will witness huge developments with Howrah river from its present status. Tripura BJP Chief Minister Biplab Deb has blueprinted a master-plan, which not only will prevent flood but will also store the water as water resource. Most importantly a hydroplant at Champaknagar will be build, which will generate power to mitigate the ongoing power crisis of the state. With this project in hand, Chief Minister also is visiting Delhi today and by tomorrow CM will discuss about the project with the Central Govt. CM told media after the visit, ‘Howarh river which is known as “Curse”, will be known as a blessing of nature, just like all other big cities are located on river banks’.

Addressing media, Biplab deb said, “Rivers are the lives of all big cities, but the Howrah river has almost become as a disturbing element for Agartala city. Howrah river has no fault, rather it’s supplying water. Our Gov’t aim will be to convert Agartala City as river centric city”.

“Howrah river itself will develop the city, rather than destructions due to flood. We have spotted 3 places where dams will be set", CM said.

"With River-Howrah project 3 developments will come : 1) 6 months of drinking water source will be arranged from here,  which will be pure and  govt will not need to spend huge funds for water purification, 2) The water will not go directly as before going it will  generate hydro-electricity, which will help the public and also the locals here. Govt has also decided to set a food processing plant for the locals here (Champaknagar), who are living under poverty. They can cultivate pineapples at here, 3) No flood will be in Agartala anymore and our govt is working at these three directions with river Howrah”, the Chief Minister said.
