AGARTALA / SONAMURA, April 2 (TIWN): To overcome the hiked Indo-Bangla smuggling practice via Indo-Bangla borders, which is targeting cattle mostly especially via borders like Sonamura, state govt has taken special initiative to seal the borders. Central Govt at the same time has assured full support to complete the fencing works. The govt has also blueprinted modern technology’s uses to end the chances of smuggling over the fencing. Already works across sensitive places like Sonamura has begun. Remaining border fencing works around 9 KM to start in full wave soon at Sonamura, an official said.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb earlier announced to install CCTV cameras on the borders, which will stop all kinds of smuggling threats.
"It has been checked that over the fencing, the smugglers are throwing phensedyl or drugs for exchange. In this situation, CCTV will be monitoring the activities from the control rooms and the smugglers' face will be identified", said CM.
Neighbor Bangladesh Govt has expressed concerns about smugglings through Tripura's borders. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he would seek the feasibility of installation of CCTV cameras on the fencing along the India-Bangladesh border for better border management.
Home Ministry also to consider setting up the Central Control and Monitoring Rooms so as to prevent any illegal activities on the border.
The border security and infrastructure along the frontiers must be strengthened to stop infiltration, border crimes and to prevent inimical activities.
