AGARTALA, March 27 (TIWN): When Tripura’s 60 % agro-productions are based on Horticulture, the State Govt never gave priority to the Horticulture passed out graduates differently, whereas in modern era the Horticulture has its own area and Agriculture deals with its own categorical productions. When Tripura BJP Govt has set a vision of Agro-based economy, the improper recruitments have slowed the growth in Agriculture. For example vegetable, fruits are under agriculture which shares 60 % of the total state's production. In almost the states, there are separate depts, but in case of Tripura there is hardly any difference among both the depts. for Agriculture and Horticulture. From each Dept specialist officers are recruited. The officers who are specially trained in their subjects talk to the farmers directly and operates in their own way.

In the CPI-M era, the Horticulture was never given priority. It’s not that Agriculture graduates do not understand Horticulture and  Horticulture students don’t understand Agriculture, but as an Agricultural graduate will understand the subject in better than horticulture, in the same manner, a Horticulture degree holder understands the Horticulture at the best.

But the Govt never understood the matter and whenever the officers are recruited they are bound to work under agriculture as well as horticulture.

Question raised, this time Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has valued the Jampui oranges, pineapples separately. Thus, the job aspirants are hoping the Horticulture Passed out students will also be given values !

The officers now appointed in Tripura Agriculture & Horticulture Dept neither have any P.hD nor ready to identify the difference between agriculture and horticulture.

On the other side recently amid ongoing case in High Court’s against a particular recruitment under Agriculture Dept, TPSC has conducted the same exam for recruiting Agriculture Officer on March 10, where question papers were given with unsealed settings.

With all these, resentments have brewed among the passed out students under Horticulture Dept.
