AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): BJP's pre-poll promises now biting back its leaders in Manipur after 1 year of BJP Govt formation. With another major jolt, today Manipur government employees, on a cease-work strike since last week, have demanded a timeframe for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. After 1 year of the Govt was formed in the state, the Manipur employees yet to get 7th pay commission's recommendation. In case of Tripura, the proposed Expert Committee yet to finalize settings and deadlines for the submission of the committee report to the state finance dept. Tripura Finance Minister, Chief Minister both have left the matter up to the report of the expert committee, which yet to be formed and when report will be submitted it's also unknown. In the last three press conferences, 7th pay commission's declaration was massaging, whereas it was said that after first cabinet meeting 7th pay commission will be implemented. All the media persons have been asked to wait for the govt press releases.

Out of the 19 BJP ruled states, Manipur and Tripura are the only where the recommendations have not been implemented.

A strike was also conducted at Manipur recently. The strike was jointly called on March 22 by the All Manipur Trade Unions Council and the All Manipur Government Employees Organisation. L. Biken, general secretary of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of the striking employees, said: "We are not saying that the enhanced pay should be given now.

"All what we want is that the government should give a written commitment on when the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission will be implemented in Manipur."  Referring to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's "excuse" that being a resourceless state, Manipur depends mostly on the central government and so it cannot implement the higher pay, Biken said the state government had implemented the 4th, 5th and 6th pay commission.

In case of Tripura, even though Biplab Deb before election said, all calculations for 1.50 lakhs employees were done to implement the 7th Pay Commission but surprisingly  before the 1st ever Assembly Session by BJP Govt, 7th Pay Commission couldn't be announced officially.

On last March 21, Chief Minister Biplab Deb didn't announce about 7th pay commission's implementation plan, but when media raised question about 7th pay commission, he said it's 100 % guaranted that 7th pay commission will be implemented but now the Expert Committee is doing the formal works before implementation.

Only time will tell whether Tripura Govt employees fate turns like Manipur Govt employees without 7th Pay Commission.
