PALATANA, UDAIPUR, September 1 (TIWN): Due to some minor problems in software upgradation of the Gas Turbine the scheduled power generation from the Unit-I of OTPCs 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Plan at in Palatana has been cancelled for another 24 hours, authenticated by a top level OTPC engineer on Sunday night . The engineer said that earlier it was scheduled that power generation will begin from Palatana from Sunday night with the USA based General Electric experts handing over the unit to BHEL. But since midnight of Saturday it was found that some software upgradation are yet to be completed. As such five GE experts are now working with any stoppage to sort out the problems.

TIWN sources said, " SOS has already been sent to GE headquarters in Atlanta, USA and it has been confirmed that an expert engineer is arriving Palatana from GE's Hyderabad unit on Monday morning. He will supervise the entire upgradation procedure with the total monitoring from GE Headquarters. It is expected that the up gradation may be completed by Monday noon." After this GE experts will again go with some compulsory trial run and if the trial gives satisfactory results, GE will give ' All Clear' signal to BHEL for power generation. However, even if everything goes well power generation is unlikely to begin before Mo day night, may be after 7.30pm. But the final schedule will be announced on Monday after when NERLDC is expected to be informed about the completion of the ongoing Major Inspection process said TIWN sources.

They too are expected to leave the plant on Tuesday after the power generation ultimately begins. It is to be mentioned here that the compulsory Major Inspection of Gas Turbine( after 8000 hours of continuous operation) began on 20th August and it was scheduled that the inspection will continue up to 4th September. But the General Electric experts in collaboration with Sogex Oman India Pvt Ltd experts completed the the Major Inspection on 29th August. Reacting to the news published in various local dailies about the Major Inspection a top level OTPC official told TIWN on Sunday, " TRIPURAINFOWAY.com deserves special thanks for publishing round the clock updates with concrete information. It really helped the people of the NE region vastly depending on this plant to know the actual fact. The next such Major Inspection is likely to take place in 2016 as the hardware equipments replaced this time are capable of operating for 24000 hours at a stretch."
