AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): Pending Assembly Election at Charilam has started with the voting begins at 7 AM without any hurdle or any kind of EVM-problem faced by the polling officials at there.

Charilam Assembly Election was postponed after CPI-M candidate Ramendra Narayan Debbbarma had died on February 11, just 7 days ahead of Tripura Assembly Election.

Since the morning people queued up to cast their votes.

However, the opposition CPI-M on March 10 had withdrawn their candidate's name (Palash Debbarma) from the poll. Withdrawing the candidate's name via a etter to the CEO Sriram Taranikanti, CPI-M wrote, "In our earlier memorandum we had categorically mentioned the names of 11 party offices looted, vandalized or set on fire..........19 leaders were injured physically......The CPI-M candidate of Charilam was bound to stay outside the constituency...thus after  a meeting held at 12 PM on March 10 we have decided to withdraw the nomination of the left front sponsored candidate from this election. We have complained about the ongoing violence in Tripura to the CEO Sriram Taranikanti. We have also demanded to reschedule the Charilam Election  as CPI-M activists are unable to come out of home. Our Charilam candidate Palash Debbarma is now out ofCharilam'.

From BJP the candidate at Charilam constituency is none other than the elected Deputy CM of Tripura Jishnu Debbarma.

The voting is going peacefully without any kind of disturbance. Security is tightened across Charilam and no untoward incident was informed so far.
