AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Political candidates along with their party activists are active across 6 constituencies in re-poll campaigning and meeting the voters from door to door. However, after 4 PM today security to be further tightened under section 144 in each places to ensure free and fair election and campaigning also will be restricted. The 6 polling centres where the election will be held, EC has kept strict observations. The 6 poll-stations are : 22-Sonamura, 23-Dhanpur, 28-Teliamura, 40-Sabroom,41-Ampinagar, 54-Kadamtala-Kurti, where the election commission has ordered re-polling. Election Commission Secretary Arvind Anand ordered to conduct re-polls in 6 poll-stations of 6 constituencies of Tripura on February 26, i.e. on Monday. However the state politicians have reacted sharply against the Election Commission's decision. Whereas BJP Sonamura candidate has called the polling personnel as "Uneducated", the CPI-M has called "Criminal-Negligence" of the Election Commission".

In a letter on yesterday night, Arvind Anand Secretary of Chief Election Commission of India told CEO of Tripura , "I am directed to state that on the reports submitted and after taking all material circumstances into account, the Commission hereby the Commission here declares under Sub-Section 2 of Under Section 58 of the representation of the people's act 1951 that the poll taken on 18th February, 2018..... for taking a fresh poll at the said polling stations in accordance with the commission's instructions contained in chapter 13 of Hand Books for returning officers".

In reply via media, Tripura CEO said, "Let's not go for any statement of anybody. 6 polling stations are very less in numbers and nothing is abnormal in this re-poll.

Regarding EC's role, the CEO said, "Our neutrality is totally neutral and we work for the Constitution. We work for the constitution and every activity of ours is recorded everywhere. It's not like anything can be hidden or something like that".

"Once the poll is ended we can discuss on this but my focus now is to have the re-poll with 100 % efforts. Nobody will be deprived in the re-poll, but all will get chance to vote again. We have to complete the job in hand first", added CEO.
