AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Tripura's opposition BJP Party has come on massive praising of the central govt after the union budget was announced. The finance ministry announced an allocation of Rs 1,014.09 crore for the upcoming financial year towards revival of 50 airports and viability gap funding for improving aviation infrastructure in the area under the flagship regional connectivity scheme. This amount is nearly five times the allocation of Rs 200.11 crore as per the revised estimates of 2017-18. Addressing a press meet, Tripura BJP leader Sunil Deodhar said that Kalashahar Airport will be start first and then other projects, which would boost Tripura's connectivity further at cheaper price.

"In railway, total 17.50 lakh crores have been hiked in the budget. The UDAN project itself will develop Northeast's connectivity. Highways to be extended, including Tripura's 5 national highways. All markets to be connected by road with villages", said Deodhar.

Recently, Airport Authority of India's Chief Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra had visited Tripura on December 15 and held meeting with the Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan.

UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme) is aimed to connect small cities with big cities and Tripura's Kailashahar's name has been entered under this UDAN project. On that time talking to media, AAI Chief said, "The Regional Connectivity Scheme is meant to connect small cities with each-other and then big cities. In the 2nd round of UDAN Tripura's Kalishahar Airport is in the map".

Guruprasad Mohapatra further said on Kailashahar Airport, "Once the Airline operators want to start the operation, we will make the Airport ready".

Talking about the International Airport, Mohapatra told media, "Agartala Airport has the potentiality. That's why we have taken 500 crores project in hand and the new terminal building construction has begun. Very soon you will see a lot of demands and developments".

"Agartala Airport is doing around 13 lakhs passengers and it will increase more and more in numbers in coming days", said AAI Chief.

Now with allocation for flyway in the budget 2018-19, UDAN will make a fly soon across Northeast region.
