West Bengal Govt starts massive Govt Bus | AGARTALA / KOLKATA, May 20 (TIWN): Consumer-Rights in a State depends upon the attitude of the consumers to the sellers and accordingly Govts function on Consumer rights. Although consumers in Tripura are nervous before the bus drivers, conductors regarding fare-deals and always bound to pay more than the fixed price, but surveys show, in case of Kolkata like cities where consumers are aware and unready to pay the undeserved amount to anyone, State Govts in those places also takes the consumer rights seriously. Whereas Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal Govt rejected to hike bus fares, challenging them to sit at home if not interested to ply vehicles but clearly declared, no fare will be hiked and started Govt operating buses, then private operators there came in right track. No fare was hiked in West Bengal. But in Tripura, without Govt’s permission, the fares were hiked and the goers had no other option except paying double, sometimes triple. Also, Tripura Govt did not take initiative to run the TRTC buses for long journeys. Not a single word was heard from the Transport Ministry in this regard. Breaking News ! 4 Chennai returnees test | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): In another tension triggering information, it has been known that at least 4 Chennai returnees were tested COVID-19 positive in Tripura. They came via Shramik special train comprised of around 1,400 passengers. CM tweeted, “850 samples have been tested for #COVID19 today and among them 4 persons found POSITIVE. All four #COVID19 patients have returned from Chennai and are now under treatment. We are committed to ensure your safety. Stay safeâ€. Thus, total 55 active cases are now in Tripura. Chaudhury has alerted all the District Magistrates of 8 Districts and sought reports of the preparedness. In the latter, it was instructed to the DMs “Keeping the extreme situation due to impact of AMPHAN, I am further directed to request you to be alert to the situation and accordingly kindly take necessary preparedness measures at your level as per your District and below level disaster management plans to tackle the situationâ€. In a tweet Chief Minister Biplab Deb on yesterday evening has announced, "467 samples have been tested for #COVID19 and among them 2 persons found POSITIVE from 86th-Bn BSF, Ambassa. All the POSITIVE patients are under proper medical care. I pray for their speedy recovery We are committed to ensure your safety". On the other side, one COVID-19 patient’s health condition was deteriorated and in need of ICU was shifted to GB hospital after he complained of chest paining. A Doctor has said that as in Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, there is no support like ICU system, thus he was transferred. The transferred patient is a 42 years old BSF Jawan of the 86th Bn. Tripura’s total COVID-19 cases stands 80 which are active whereas 87 patients are cured. In GB hospital, which is the main quarantine centre, only 5 patients are remaining. More two patients were released from GB hospital treatment centre today. Both patients are in their critical ages, as one woman is of 64 years and another 84 years old. ‘TTAADC Election would have to be | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): After the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam, Governor''s rule was imposed in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Monday as the polls have been postponed indefinitely due to the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of novel coronavirus, officials said. Chief Executive Officer of the TTAADC Balin Debbarma said that G.K. Rao, former Tripura Chief Secretary and a retired IAS officer, has been appointed as the Administrator of the autonomous body. Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais appointed Rao, who of late was the member of the Tripura Police Accountability Commission, to run the politically important tribal autonomous body on his behalf. The 30-member TTAADC, until Sunday, was governed by the opposition CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) and its five-year term expired on May 17. COVID-19 cases surges high again in Nort | AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN) 20 people, including seven BSF jawans, a nurse and an under-treatment patient, tested COVID-19 positive in three northeastern states. Centering Assam, Tripura and Manipur the new cases in last one day increased at 20. According to Tripura's health officials, of the 159 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of two battalions (86th and 138th) and family members who tested positive so far, 62 including five kids and a woman have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. After a two-day break, 11 people, including seven BSF jawans, were tested COVID-19 positive in Tripura on Saturday taking the state''s total positive cases to 167. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet said : "As many as 625 samples have been tested for COVID-19. Among them 11 persons were found positive. (Of the 11) seven people are from 86th Battalion of BSF and four civilians." According to Tripura's health officials, of the 159 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of two battalions (86th and 138th) and family members who tested positive so far, 40 including two kids have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. After two days break, 11 people, including seven BSF jawans, were tested COVID-19 positive in Tripura on Saturday taking the state''s total positive cases to 167. In the presence of media, total 8 patients were seen to brought among 11 whereas 11 are already transferred to other states.
