AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): State Tripura is eagerly waiting to know about the Assembly Election date, which is likely to be announced soon.
Talking to TIWN at 4 PM, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Taranikanti said, "So far no election date has come yet".
However, another source said that due to holiday it can be delayed till Monday.
On the other side, along with Tripura Meghalaya and Nagaland Assembly elections' dates also to be announced.
The terms of the Assemblies in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura — with 60 seats each — will expire on 6, 13 and 14 March respectively.
The final electoral rolls of Tripura were published on January 5 with names of 25,69,216 voters, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Taranikanti had said.
Of the remaining 25,69,205 voters, 13,03,420 are males and 12,65,785 females.
The final rolls were published after looking into all claims and objections filed from different quarters of Tripura.
Already 10 companies of Central Forces have arrived here in Tripura via a special train today and 15 companies are scheduled to come by today. Aiming for a free and fair election, central forces are going to be deployed across the state.
