Dhanpur, Sep 22 (TIWN): Two persons, including Chiranjeet Shil alias Gedu, were reportedly detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) with suspected yaba tablets in the Dhanpur area, according to local sources.

The second detainee has been identified as Yasin Mia. Both were subsequently handed over to Jatrapur Police Station and are currently in police custody, sources said.

The latest detention has also brought attention to an earlier case involving Shil. According to reports, BSF personnel had recovered a pistol from his residence during an operation last year. The circumstances surrounding that recovery and the subsequent legal proceedings could not be independently verified.

Sources further claimed that attempts were allegedly made to intervene in the handling of the detainees during Monday night's operation. These claims have not been independently confirmed.

Shil was also reportedly arrested in connection with an NDPS case in 2023 and had spent time in jail in connection with that case.

Police are expected to investigate the alleged recovery of yaba tablets and establish the circumstances surrounding the case. Details regarding the quantity of the suspected narcotics and the specific sections under which the latest case may be registered are yet to be officially confirmed.

The allegations and reported recoveries remain subject to investigation, and detention does not by itself establish guilt.
