Teliamura, Sep 22: The ballot voting process for government employees and security personnel engaged in election duties has begun in Teliamura ahead of the upcoming Village Council elections scheduled across Tripura on September 28.

The special voting process began at the Teliamura RD Block office on Tuesday morning, allowing police personnel, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans and other government employees assigned to election duty to exercise their franchise through postal ballots.

Since these personnel will be deployed at different polling stations on the day of the main election, they may not be able to visit their designated polling stations to cast their votes. To ensure that they are not deprived of their voting rights, the administration has arranged advance voting through ballot papers.

The voting process commenced at 10 a.m. at the Teliamura RD Block office. According to information provided by Teliamura BDO and Returning Officer for the Village Council elections, Biplab Acharya, a total of 52 voters from the Teliamura block have been assigned election duties.

Of these, 51 are police and TSR personnel, while one is engaged in other election-related duties.

According to administrative sources, 12 votes had been cast by 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. The ballot voting process will continue in the same manner on Wednesday.

The administration has made necessary arrangements to ensure that election personnel can exercise their franchise while maintaining a smooth, peaceful and orderly voting process.

With the September 28 Village Council elections approaching, election-related preparations have intensified across the state. The commencement of ballot voting for personnel assigned to election duties marks another step in the administrative preparations leading up to the main polling day.
