AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): Amidst Tripura SFI's overruling on dress codes for College girls, Brinda Karat said at Agartala that BJP is trying to dictate the dress codes of girls.
"Young girls must stand against these unruly attitudes of BJP, RSS. Who will wear what it's up to the individual", said Karat.
However, Brinda Karat may not know the history of Tripura College students uniforms which were made compulsory from 2007-07. SFI never allowed girls to wear jeans, T-Shirt or Shirts in Colleges and many ragging were done in those times if a girl is wearing smart-dresses.
At the very beginning college girls had to wear "Sarees" in Colleges and after some accidents occurred due to "Sarees", alternatively "Churidaar" was allowed but they had many problems with stylish 'Churidaars' also and finally the uniforms with 'proper covering' dictations had been imposed from 2006.
