AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): After 79 days of Tripura's 26 years TV journalist Santanu Bhowmik's murder, Tripura Police under SIT have arrested 2 more accused into the sensitive murder case. The two accused are : 1) Rakesh Debbarma and 2) Jiten Debbarma. Earlier other three GMP, IPFT activists were arrested in September month named : 1) Bikash Debbarma, 2) Shyamal Debbarma, 3) Sachin Debbarma. Tripura's TV journalist Santanu Bhaumik on Sep 20 was killed in a political clash among CPI-M's tribal wing GMP and another tribal party IPFT who are demanding a separate state named Tipraland. At the very beginning according to police’s sources it has was known that 10-15 people stretched Santanu from the spot of the violence when he was video-recording the clash and was killed brutally.
But, the mobile became missing which has become the turning point of the case and has turned the case into almost a blind case at the beginning. Till day total 5 persons have been arrested in Santanu murder case.
Santanu's murder raised roars of protest across the country and the state journalists had demanded a CBI probe into the murder case. Later journalists had alleged that due to bleeding Santanu died, but if he was brought at GB hospital in time, he could be survived.
