AGARTALA / SONAMURA, Oct 16 (TIWN): ‘Atleast 20 25 cattle smugglers attacked the Deputy Commandant of BSF Dipak Kumar Mandal’, SP Sudipta Das told TIWN.
‘Around 15 cattle they had been smuggling via NEEPCO (Monarchak) area. When BSF tried to stop them, they smugglers attacked upon BSF and amidst the attacking hours the BSF commandant was injured seriously’, added SP.
‘The driver has been arrested but for the investigation we will not disclose the names of the accused but hopefully we will arrest all the culprits’, SP said.
BSF Deputy Commandant of 145 Btn Dipak Kumar Mandal has been injured seriously at Kalapania area of Sonamura while counterattacking smugglers at there but now fighting with life at Kolkata based Hospital. The incident took place at around 2 AM of Sunday night at Kalapania’s Shalkhet area in front of Forest Dept Official. 3 round of shooting was informed by the locals of Kalapania.
