KAMALPUR, August 9 (TIWN): A total of 5 newly elected members of Durga Chowmuhani Panchayat Samiti out of 13 members under Durga Chowmuhani block today boycotted the oath-taking ceremony. The 5 elected members who boycotted the oath taking ceremony include Nibaran Malakar, Bikash Malakar, Bisheswar Tahir, Lakshmidas Malakar and Rina Das.
The oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Panchayat Samiti members under Durga Chowmuhani block was conducted today with the boycott of 5 members.
As per the schedule, the newly elected Panchayat Samiti members under Durga Chowmuhani block of Kamalpur sub division today was administered the oath of office. Though the oath taking ceremony was scheduled to start at 10 am, but newly elected 5 members remained absent in the programme as a result of which the programme started at 12 pm.
Out of total 13 elected members, 5 remained absent and District Panchayat Officer L. Darlong administered the oath of office to the remaining 8 members. Manabendra Deb and Birendra Koiri have taken oath as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Durga Chowmuhani respectively. Sources said, the problem arise for a dispute over the seats of Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
