AGARTALA, August 9 (TIWN): The oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected members of Hrishyamukh Panchayat Samiti was conducted today at Nripen Chakraborty Smriti Mancha in Hrishyamukh RD Block. MLA Basudeb Majumder, Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council Dipankar Sen, District Sabhadhipati of South District Himanshu Roy, former chairpersons of Panchayat Samities and other officials remained present there in the programme.
Santosh Deb, South District Panchayat Officer administered the oath of office to the members, Chairperson and Vice Chairperson in the ceremony. Asish Datta was administered the oath as Chairperson, who occupied the seat of vice chairperson for the last three consecutive terms. Rupan Choudhury has taken the oath as Vice Chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti. Rupan Choudhury was the chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti.
Asish Datta said that the newly formed Panchayat aims at bringing peace, development and progress. "Whatever duty has been given to me, I will try to come up to the expectation of the people," said Asish.
Vice Chairperson Rupan Choudhury said that he would take initiatives to cut down the rate of domestic violence against women.
