AGARTAL, August 3 (TIWN): A gruesome accident killed two passengers and injured three others at Jolaibari late night on Saturday. The accident took place at Jolaibari area when an overcrowded Jeep collided head-on with a Mahindra Bolero car.
Two people were killed on the spot and three others were critically injured, the police said.
Anjali Pal (30) a resident of west Tillak and Dilip Pal (55) resident of Kakolia lost their lives. Three other passengers - Shipra Acharjee, Sikha Pal and Niyati shil were rushed to the GB Hospital for further treatment.
The Jeep (TR01 32 2505) was on its way from Baikhora to Jolaibari when it collided with the Mahindra Bolero (TR03 B 1681), officials from the local police station said. The cops added that the Jeep was overloaded owing to which it lost control and dashed on to the second vehicle.
According to official report, altogether 2581 road mishaps occurred in the last three financial years including 901 road accidents in the financial year 2012 -12, 855 accidents in the year 2013 -14 and 363 more road mishaps in the year 2014 till date.
