Agartala, May 11 (TIWN / IANS): Hundreds of people on Thursday attended the cremation of a paramilitary officer from Tripura killed in a terror attack in Assam.
Amal Sarkar, 42, of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was cremated at his ancestral hometown Baikhora, 115 km south of Agartala.
The body was laid to rest with full state honours in the presence of his parents, wife, children and close relatives.
Sarkar, a Sub-Inspector of the 15th Battalion of SSB, was killed on Tuesday during a joint operation by the Army and para-military forces in Manas reserve forest in Assam's Chirang district.
Earlier on Thursday, his body was brought to Agartala from Guwahati. West Tripura District Magistrate Milind Ramteke and others received the body at the Agartala airport.
