Agartala, July 4 (TIWN): At least five persons including a BSF jawan were injured when a BSF team challenged smugglers at Rahimpur under Kalamchoura police station this morning.
Two separate FIRs have been filed with the police station accusing each other for the incident. However, no arrest has been made yet.
BSF jawans patrolling along the border spotted a group of smugglers were taking a consignment of cumin through the barbed wire fencing at Rahimpur around 10.30 am and chased them.
Villagers waiting there also challenged the BSF troops leading to clash between two sides resulting in one BSF jawan injured while four villagers suffered injuries. To bring the situation under control, BSF jawan opened fire at the air. Hearing the sound of firing, villagers ran away from the scene.
Later, BSF and villagers lodged FIRs at Kalamchoura police station. Police started investigation into the incident but no arrest has been made so far.
