KAMALPUR, Oct 19 (TIWN): The fate of the people of the sub-division remained in utter distress in different aspects.
And the situation became worse for the mysteriously anti-people policies of the government. In the hotels and restaurants of the sub-division as well the district, the people had to consume stale, adulterated and unhygienic food items.
The kitchens of those food selling institutions also remained very much dirty and filled with wastes. But, for decades no administrative officer found to look into those matters. Sometimes, the SDM found to initiate raid against shops and to seize expired food items. But it remained the minimum against the need.
When asked SDM Subhasis Das disclosed that, they, actually, had no right or authority in this regard. Whatever they did remained based on public interest.
He further informed that, the authority and responsibility lied with the Food Safety Officer who remained posted at CMO Office, Ambassa. But it remained a fact that, the inhabitants of Dhalai district never found that official to perform his duty.
He never found to raid in the hotels or restaurants to examine the quality of the food. When contacted, the Officer, Bishnupada Jamatia informed that, he got bestowed with the responsibility of three districts namely Dhalai, North and Unakoti.
Hence he had to move in between the districts for his work. Moreover, he seriously lacked manpower. Hence he could not perform his duties everywhere.
But, how could the government appoint a single officer for three districts in such a sensitive case, remained the question.
The government which claimed to be solely devoted to the cause of public interest actually denied the sector, according to the commoners. And the people-friendly (?) political parties also remained in slumber in this regard.
