KAMALPUR, Sep 10 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident a student of class X of Madrassa Class XII School got drowned while bathing in the river Dhalai this morning around 10-30 am.
The equipment-less fire service staffs tried their best along with the local youths but failed to trace out the drowned boy. Police also kept a close watch on the incident.
According to the information, five school going boys of class X who used to reside at Kamalpur for their studies went to have a bath in the river Dhalai.
The boys were Rahul Debbarma of Singinala under Salema police station; Jems Debbarma of Rangicharra; Pradeep Debbarma of Bhagaichari; Sagar Debbarma of Bhagaichari and Running Gour of Rangicharra.
Last four boys were from Kamalpur police station. Among them Rahul and Running studied at Madrassa Class XII School and other three studied at Kamalpur Govt. Class XII School. As they were bathing in the river they got into whirl and somehow four boys escaped.
But Rahul, who did not know to swim, drowned.
Then the boys raised hue and cry. Local youths plunged into the river. Meanwhile the fire service staffs also got deployed. But Rahul remained traceless. Many expressed their views that, if the department had enough equipment then the boy might be rescued.
